What is the hardware build? Have you checked its support using VMware Compatibility Guide?
Re: Help diagnosing purple screen
Re: Printer properties settings saved by UEM are not applied.
I might be getting this wrong.. but will give it a go..
- if you have captured (profiled) the printer settings) from source
= where on the source PC / OS, the user account has access to update/manage the printer..
= and you have updated and captured the settings.
- then when pushing this out to the user population. Settings are static
- depending on how the application (in this case the printer settings) works, unless there is a trigger in the Registry Values itself to "Enable/Disable" Management... you will not get your functionality here using User Environment Manager.
- And since User Environment Manager can also push out only "User GPOs", controlling Printer functionality can be done both by a "Computer GPO" and "User GPO" setting. located at
‘Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/Printers‘ - which needs to be pushed out via regular GPOs using GPMC
‘User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Printers‘ - which can be pushed out via User Environment Manager > ADMX > User-based GPOs
- I would suggest if you want to push out multiple 'static setting' then profile them separately and assign them via "Condition Sets" using User Environment Manager.
Re: Deploy Error : A required disk image was missing.
Check OVA or VMX files for hardware configuration and find out either your server is compatible with the required VM configuration.
Re: Unmount storage options grey out
Check out a similar thread and follow its instructions.
Re: VMware Converter P2V failed
Consider trying Disk2vhd to P2V and then StarWind V2V Converter to make VMDK.

virtualmachinelocks_powercli
Hi Luc/All,
is there any powercli way of checking locks on virtual machines??
How can I limit port speed in ESXi vSphere Client? I'm having trouble
* I am trying to limit each VPS inside of my main server to 100MB/sec speeds.
My server is 1000MB/sec(1GBps)
I selected my main dedicated server then went to 'Configuration' then clicked 'Networking' then clicked 'Properties' then my network adapter, then clicked 'Edit'. Afterwards I selected 'Traffic Shaping', put the values to 100000Kbits/sec(100MB/sec). Clicked OK.
I then went to my VPS server and downloaded file using wget command from France, USA, and Iran. VPS speed shows 4MB/sec-8MB/sec
What is the is a way I can limit speeds within each VPS on my dedicated server?
Why isn't this working?
vSphere Client
Version 5.1.0
Build 1471691
VMware ESXi

Re: Printer properties settings saved by UEM are not applied.
Hi, UEMdev
Thank you for your relply.
The manual change of regedit on VDI is prohibited, and the registry editor controls this in group policy for a computer.
Therefore the manual change of the registry is not made domainadmins on VDI.
But the registry setting of other UEM settings is applied to Windows10 because I admit the silent practice of the registry editor.
Thank you !
Rename multiple VM's using txt file
I am looking for a PowerShell/PowerCLI script/way to rename 180 (only the display name not the vmdk/vmx files) vm's located in txt file under C:\Temp\vmlist.txt.
Is there a way to do it better then running the below command multiple (180) times
set-vm Old-VM-NAME1 -name 'New-VM-Name1' -confirm:$false
set-vm Old-VM-NAME2 -name 'New-VM-Name2' -confirm:$false
set-vm Old-VM-NAME3 -name 'New-VM-Name3' -confirm:$false
Re:Vra 7.5 Patch HF5 installation loop indefinetly on HF4 uninstallation step
Hello lporreco,
You 're right, i took a look on troubleshooting section on cumulative patch page, but as you said it's a very disappointing workarround.
I won't tell that to my ops team which is managing a lot of server , to do all of that manually :-( Our basic design is deployed with 6 iaas each time, so this solution it's not very user friendly for us.
Normaly a hotfix is to fix issue not to give us more work. I m' still waitting from support answer if they have a better solution to propose or maybe a new patch :-)
Regards,
Re: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#0 stuck for 23s!
I am still facing same issue. Is there any way to fix this issue.
Re: VMware ESXi control panel | VM Management & Bandwidth Monitoring | AutoVM
I wouldn't recommend a service from this company. I tried them and couldn't get my modules installed and they didn't respond to my support tickets for days and after a week I was frustrated so I showed my frustration and they terminated my service. Terrible support.
Re: vSphere Replication 8.1 Pre-Freeze and Post-Thaw Skripts aren't executed on SLES VMs
Hello huassainbte,
i haven't even tried to install oracle databases as i first wanted to see if vSphere Replication upon its replication cycle can even call the Pre-freeze and post-thaw scripts.
But since no snapshot is done on the source-VM the scripts won't get executed (altough SLES will be quiesced).
The contents from both scripts are in the opening post. As i said it is just a one-liner which should verify if that script runs by creating some text on the SLES VM.
Re: VMware ESXi control panel | VM Management & Bandwidth Monitoring | AutoVM
And I made a new support ticket hoping I would get another representative but it was just the same customer support representative.
Re: Datastore üzerindeki snapshot dosyaların silinmesi!!!
Merhaba,
Eğer ihtiyacınız bulunmuyor ise ve datastore'da free space bulunuyor ise delete all butonu ile hepsini silebilirsiniz. Snapshot'ları silmenin özel bir sıralaması bulunmamaktadır.
Data recovery
Hello guys,
I have the issue with data recovery of forwarded Desktop. F.e. yesterday I restarted all VM in a floating pool and today many users asked me why they can see data that are 6 months old and their desktop includes different files than on Friday. And the VSS recovery from friday shows me different data than today. Do you have any similiar behaviour as me? Will appreciate every help!
We have 7.5.1 build-9122465 & agent 7.2.0 based on 2016 server OS.
Thank you very much!

Upgrade from 7.1 to 7.5
Hello guys,
I made an upgrade of horizon from 7.1 to 7.5 and I have many problems.
Now the CS is 7.5.1 and agents 7.5.0
1) after pool creation some stations are with status STARTUP and nobody can login there. After restart it is ok (Available)
2) When I use the user who used the previous version without problems, now the start is stucks on a reading of persona management configuration. Only one way helps - delete old profile and re-create the new one. And when I would like to use the old pool, still stucks on persona management - is it any incompatibility?
Can you give me some advice how to resolve these problems? or do you have any experiences with this upgrade?
Thank you for all your replies. I have been resolving it for one week and still no success.
EDIT: should I update admx for PerManag as well? I think if I configured GPO for it, I can use it in new version, right?
Re: virtualmachinelocks_powercli
Not really.
You can check for .lck files with datastore provider, something like this
$ds=Get-Datastore-Name $dsName
New-PSDrive-Location $ds-Name DS -PSProvider VimDatastore -Root '\'|Out-Null
Get-ChildItem-Path DS: -Filter *.lck -Recurse
Remove-PSDrive-Name DS
But the real tool to use for finding all types of locks is vmkfstools, which requires a SSH session to the ESXi node.
For example
$vmName='MyVM'
$cmdSub="vmkfstools -D /vmfs/volumes/vsanDatastore/$vmName/$vmName.vmdk"
$cred=Get-Credential-Message "Enter credentials for $esxName"
$session=New-SSHSession-ComputerName $esxName-Credential $cred–AcceptKey
$result=Invoke-SSHCommand-SSHSession $session-Command $cmdSub
Remove-SSHSession-SSHSession $session|Out-Null
$result.Output
